Located in the Santa Lucia Mountains, and a partner of Still Water's Sanctuary in Missouri, Loving Earth Sanctuary is committed to a non-violent resistance to the exploitative, consumption-driven system upon which modern society subsists. We believe that to do this effectively requires us to cultivate personal growth, heal our relationship with the planet, engage in voluntary simplicity, and adopt an electricity- and fossil-fuel-free lifestyle, as well as actively engage in service to our fellow human beings. At this point our group is in the early stages of formation. We have 3 core members, 40 acres equipped with a barn, cabin, and working hand-pump. We are in the middle of starting our first food garden and planting a food forest, and actively seeking anyone interested to volunteer, stay with us, or simply feed their spirit in the beauty of the hills. Our long-term vision is to have a thriving, almost completely self-sufficient system for meeting our basic needs respectfully from the land. In addition, we want to be a source of support for those in need for whom the rural lifestyle would be beneficial too. Possibilities we've discussed include aged-out foster youths, victims of the sex-trade, and refugees. More than anything, we hope to be an educational center to help share freely (without a price attached) the skills necessary for living in a warming world.
