We are about living holistically and in alignment with values that ensure a regenerative future for the next seven generations. This property feels rural and yet within 90 minutes drive to the Twin Cities and in the heart of the recreation of Mille Lacs Lake area, the Walleye capitol of the world.
There are many layers of cultures intersecting in this region. At Fern Hollow, we aim to provide a model community, one that embraces diversity and shared power, off-grid living, reduced foot-print, regenerative agriculture, foraging, food preservation, alternative eco-building construction and waste practices along with setting an example and provide education for others who want to learn a different way of living in harmony with the earth and all life forms. Potential for developing a research facility for studying the effects on forest immune systems to influence current Crow Wing County and Minnesota forest management practices. Specifically in regards to learning how trees and forest fauna communicate and sustain healthy communities through mycelium.

This stunningly beautiful 10-acres of mixed sphagnum bog and mixed hardwood high ground borders a pristine lake. The land is at the base of over 1200 acres of tax forfeit land that is bordered like a horse-shoe of rivers, wetland and lakes which creates a truly pristine environment free from much public use. Principle founder was raised upon this land on a small lake parcel that has been family owned since 1925. The mixed forest or this area is mostly about 95 years old with current clear-cutting forest management planned for the next 15 years unless the county can be convinced that the practice is not conducive to current Global Climate Change recommendations.

This eco-development offers small lots of various acres fostering individual equity at reasonable entry price points, specifically through Contract for Deed arrangements with private parties not currently utilizing the land. Once this community gets going, the land prices will increase and ensure exit equity. The main site will hold common spaces and foster community building and thriving with shared chores based upon interest, skill sets, and a determined level of community participation with decision-making processes.
