The Rainwater Collective is a fledgling ecohamlet* seeking hardworking, adventurous folks to help get this dream off the ground. We’ll have a high level of interdependence and resource sharing- community kitchen with shared meals every day, shared community garden, barn, sauna/bath-house and small individual or family dwellings. Income-sharing is optional but not required, and the community is radically affordable- no buy-in fee and no one turned away for lack of funds. The community is entirely off-grid, with a small solar system and we rely on rainwater rather than a dug well. The dream of the Rainwater Collective is to develop a regionally appropriate, regenerative lifeway that actually improves our soil, removes carbon from the atmosphere, puts water back in the aquifers, reconnects us with each other and the Earth and builds cooperative culture and a network of resilience among our friends and neighbors. We are deeply committed to permaculture, appropriate technology, antiracism and antioppression work, compassionate and skillful communication (including conflict transformation and restorative justice), and nonviolence.
*Like an ecovillage, but smaller- goal is 10-15 adults on 17 acres, in collaboration with a network of other small communities and permaculture homesteads in the Piedmont bioregion.
