Seeking like-minded, community-active folx. We hope to support each other and our community, bolster local mutual aid networks, create a low-cost living experience to allow personal and interpersonal freedom, explore alternatives and resistance to money and work (do more with less), and create community.
Six months ago, two likeminded queers met and formed a deep friendship through this website. During our time living together we have served and showed up for the community together, and cared for three beautiful animals (two cats and a rabbit).
Facing the unrealistic price, work, and time constraints of finding a new rental property for two people, we seek like minded individuals to survive and thrive as a community.
Our timeline is to find a rental property in late October or early November 2020. The idea of buying property one day for commune activities is appealing, but also at odds with our feelings about devoting serious time to work. This could become possible with a collaborative effort. Our primary focus is occupying space in an intentional way, whether through renting or owning a space.
We have ample funds to place a down payment on a rental property. We hope that by finding like-minded individuals, all of our expenses will be lower. By reducing the amount we need to pay and therefore work, we hope that our extra time can be devoted to building community and contributing to the rich local networks which already exist.
Personal interests include sharing resources to subvert the money system and serve those in need, showing up for justice, music, art, creative writing, science, holistic medicine, herbs, and gardening, though we are in need of someone with a green thumb.
Both of us are heavily inclined toward Sikhi, though we welcome diverse beliefs.
Fish is a trans woman who is studying engineering, passionately relates science to metaphysics and spirituality, and creates music.
Goose is a teacher reckoning with what it means to “educate,” a music tinkerer, a vegetarian cook, and an animal lover.
Additional Animal Friends: the limiting reagent here is space, and landlords. The two cats are seniors and get stressed. The rabbit is pretty low maintenance. With a big enough house, we would absolutely consider adding other animals to the household. We would prioritize all of the animals’ wellbeing. Ideally all pet guardians would proactively communicate and collaborate for the wellbeing of all.
